These sessions are for ADULTS age 18 and up (no upper age limit), and involve sculling - rowing with two oars. Scullers can row by themselves in a single rowing shell, or with one other rower in a double, or with 3 others in a quad.
Each Experience Rowing and Learn-to-Row session is limited to 8 participants, and these fill up fast!
Note that we do not anticipate offering additional sessions this year. We also do not have a juniors (youth) program.

LPRA is a member of USRowing and a member-driven 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation formed in 2013 to facilitate and promote the sport of rowing in the Greater Birmingham area.
LPRA has no staff and is operated by its elected board and member volunteers. Membership is open to individuals who pass LPRA’s rowing proficiency test and satisfy all application requirements.
LPRA offers adult Learn-to-Row classes in June and July, conducts year-round programs for member recreational and competitive rowers, and sponsors Samford University Crew.
LPRA's mission is to nurture a passion for both rowing and sculling focusing on teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and commitment to being good environmental stewards of the Lake Purdy Reservoir.
